Meet Domingo De La Cruz, a Cloud Security Engineer at Logicworks!
What is your favorite thing about Logicworks?
Working here, I get exposure to new technologies as it gets released. I really enjoy being able to learn, as technology evolves and play around with it in a sandbox, which is an isolated environment to explore. I’ve recently been experimenting in the Azure Sandbox and learning that environment.
What is your role and what’s a typical day like for you?
I’m a Cloud Security Engineer, and I’m mainly responsible for internal and external security for our Managed Cloud Services. I make sure that everything is secure.
I start my day by checking vulnerability logs that are generated by our 3rd party software. Then, I verify clients’ health statuses, generate reports, and make corrections on the environment and networking, while constantly working on client’s VPNs. When I’m not doing that, I participate in meetings and ensure that all my clients feel helped.
What is the most exciting part about your job?
I truly enjoy interacting with clients during calls because I have the opportunity to listen to what does and doesn’t work, so I can assist to make improvements.
What shows are you currently watching?
There aren’t any shows that I’m currently watching, but I love watching boxing, MMA, UFC, and The Office reruns. My favorite fighter to watch is Anderson Silva.
Before joining Logicworks, did you have any fun or interesting jobs?
I interned at a test taking center during college, which was fun. I also worked for a web management company and did scheduling and made cold calls.
Where is your favorite travel destination?
My favorite destination is the Caribbean. I’ve been to the Bahamas, Aruba, and Puerto Rico. I’ll be going to the East Canary Islands as soon as I can. I love the culture, the beaches, and the food.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Like I mentioned, I enjoy watching boxing and UFC, so I’m currently trying to find a gym where I can train!
Did you always know you would be in the technology industry?
I always knew I wanted to go into the technology industry. When I was 8 years old, I got my first Gateway computer and I would play with it all day, breaking it apart, and putting it back together.
What advice do you have for someone looking to join the cloud computing industry?
Just go into it and have fun with it. Go and play in the AWS Console and learn as much as you can from it.
