Complex Managed Hosting

Logicworks’ Complex Managed Hosting services provide the ideal foundation for today’s demanding Internet applications. (The term “complex” is intended in the sense of multiple interconnected parts, as in a housing complex, rather than services being complicated per se). Everything that is necessary to keep services up and running, to know immediately if anything goes wrong, and to act decisively to restore services, is included in Logicworks standard offerings.

Hardware and Network Infrastructure Administration

In Logicworks’ data centers, we provision and manage custom configured server and network infrastructures dedicated to individual customers. Logicworks provides 1 to 4 processor socket servers, with 1 to 4 cores per processor. Logicworks offers both Intel Xeon™ and AMD Opteron™ processors with either SCSI, SATA, or SAS local storage. Logicworks also offers dedicated firewalls, Ethernet switches and VPN endpoints, SANs and storage arrays available on a dedicated basis. For all the hardware it operates, Logicworks maintains hot spare equipment in each of its datacenters, ensuring that replacements are on hand to be swapped in the event of failure.

24x7 Network Operations Center

The front line of Logicworks’ support is its Network Operations Center. NOC engineers are highly skilled in a wide variety of disciplines, and are typically capable of resolving whatever issues arise right then and there without having to escalate, as is often the case with our competitors. While NOC engineers can collaborate with specialist engineers when necessary, Logicworks recognizes that time is of the essence in executing clients’ requests and responding to alerts. To that end, all engineers receive ongoing training in response procedures for critical events. We built our NOC to be the kind of group we’d want to be dealing with in a firefight, and our clients benefit on an ongoing basis, having our NOC act as an extension of their internal technical operations.

Expert Resources

You may only need an expert once or twice a year, but when you need one, you really need one. Logicworks’ specialist engineers— certified by Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, MySQL, etc.—are available as an expert bench for clients to reach out to for design guidance or problem resolution. Logicworks’ senior engineering staff touches virtually every client by having designed and vetted almost every aspect of provisioning and administration procedures.

Co-Administration

Logicworks provides full administrator and root access, allowing clients the flexibility to modify their environment as necessary. Clients are able to do what they need without having their hands tied, while Logicworks is also able to step in and ‘grab the steering wheel’ when the need arises. When we say that we act in partnership with our clients, it isn’t just marketing-speak: every implementation is a collaboration between Logicworks and our clients.

Continuous Application Health Monitoring

Logicworks monitors all hosted solutions on a 24x7x365 basis with the intent of knowing if anything goes wrong as soon as it goes wrong. Logicworks uses multiple monitoring systems, each with different sensitivities and purposes, all of which are in constant evolution. For all clients, Logicworks collaboratively designs a monitoring solution that will determine both the health of the constituent components of an architecture, in addition to tests that determine the health of the overall application. Moreover, Logicworks embeds prescribed response procedures in the alerts themselves, allowing NOC engineers to interpret and quickly address whatever might have triggered the alert.

Rapid Response and Recovery

Accidents happen, whether it's a failing hard disk, or an accidental erasure of a vital file. With our managed backup and recovery services, Logicworks' engineers can rapidly restore your data, servers, and functionality. Recovery is enhanced when coupled with our managed database services and high-availability architectures. Logicworks also makes identical hardware available on a stand-by, ready-to-go basis for all solutions to minimize downtime due to hardware failure.

Patching

Logicworks takes a vigilant proactive approach to ensuring that all of our servers are maintained at the prescribed patch level for the given application. Additionally, our NOC works closely with clients to ensure that any exposures related to customer-installed and managed applications are remedied rapidly and in accordance with the vendor's instructions. Logicworks maintains the capability to patch all of the operating systems we offer from a centrally managed location so that upgrades can be conducted quickly and accurately while minimizing the impact on your business and your applications. Because Logicworks’ customers deploy each layer of their architecture in pairs, patching can be tested on one half of the infrastructure before being applied to the entire system.

Dedicated Account Team

Beginning with our consultative sales process, Logicworks provides personalized and vigilant customer service through an Account Executive and Account Manager dedicated to your needs. The same person who helped you initially is dedicated to your needs throughout the relationship. Your account team will be available, immediately responsive, technically proficient, and maintain an ongoing understanding of your business needs.

LogicOps Customer Service Portal

LogicOps is a full-service secure Web-based application to manage your account, configure various services and directly interact with our Network Operations Center. LogicOps is actively enhanced by Logicworks’ development team, which adds new capabilities and features on a regular basis.

Providing inventory management, asset tracking, and customer service capabilities, LogicOps enables Logicworks’ NOC to manage service requests, review every individual asset and service devoted to a client, reconcile billing with services delivered, and manage pre-planned escalation and response requests in a detailed manner. This proprietary system is completely auditable, providing ongoing accountability for the most crucial components of Logicworks’ operations.

Through a Web interface, clients can securely generate, track, and review service requests; add, remove, and manage authorized internal users and outside consultants; manage DNS; and have a transparent view of the change tracking process.

An earlier version of “My Logicworks” was reviewed in LinuxWorld Magazine (Oct. 2005). Because Logicworks has developed the application specifically for its business, LogicOps exceeds the capabilities and customization shortcomings found in many commercial CRM and asset management applications.
